There are so many different elements that you need to think about when you are designing. From basic design principles and functionality all the way to building codes and cost. If too much emphasis is put on any one thing, the design will not be successful. I think there needs to be compromises made when designing and balancing all the different factors is essential to creating a good design.

One of the architects that I looked at was Steven Holl. His use of form and material really inspire me. I find the way he uses bold forms with moments of very intricate detail make his designs successful. He seems to do this not only in his buildings but his furniture and product design as well.
